Job summary

Ameritas is seeking an Assistant Actuary for Annuity Statutory / PBR Valuation to join the Corporate Actuarial Annuity Valuation team. This role contributes to the growth of the annuity portfolio and supports VM-22 infrastructure development.

The position can be remote (USA) or hybrid (Lincoln, NE; Cincinnati, OH) and reports to the Director, Annuity Statutory Valuation. You will perform quarterly valuations, develop tools, and contribute across the VM-22 lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent.
• ASA designation required; FSA strongly preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of annuity valuation experience; VM-22/VM-21 valuation experience required.
• Annuity LDTI/GAAP experience preferred.
• Actuarial modeling tools and data management knowledge (Prophet, SQL, Snowflake, Power BI) widely used.

Responsibilities

• Perform quarterly statutory and tax valuation for non-variable annuity products under CARVM/Actuarial Guideline and VM-22 frameworks; analyze reserve movements.
• Collaborate with the Liability Product Owner to complete valuation tasks and ensure data/model governance.
• Support VM-22 end-to-end implementation; define data/model requirements and assist in UAT.
• Lead VM-22 assumption setting and testing (mortality, lapse, withdrawals, crediting, expenses).
• Manage VM-22 valuation data pipelines with end-to-end traceability.
• Draft and maintain VM-31 Actuarial Report content and related governance documentation.
• Develop and enhance PBR valuation processes and provide insights for FP&A and leadership.
• Produce sensitivity analyses and support hedging evaluation; liaise with Finance, Risk, IT, Pricing, and external consultants.
