Job summary

LAC Federal seeks an Archivist / Project Manager in Washington, DC to lead a 12-month project for processing and preserving significant archival collections documenting American music history. You will manage collection assessment, processing plans, finding aids, metadata, and QA with agency coordination.

Requires MLS/MLIS and 3+ years in archival processing, arrangement, and description, with strong communication skills and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Minimum three years of professional archival experience.
• Experience conducting collection assessments and developing processing plans.
• Ability to lead and manage archival projects and teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee processing, arrangement, description, preservation, and management of significant archival collections.
• Lead collection surveys, develop processing plans, and ensure QA compliance.
• Coordinate with agency personnel and prepare progress reports.
• Create and maintain finding aids, inventories, and metadata.
