Job summary

Cohere Health is seeking a Sr. Manager, Applied Science to lead a team of scientists building AI for clinical and administrative workflows. You will drive research, maintain methodological rigor, and partner with Product, Engineering, Clinical, and Analytics to deliver impactful models.

This remote-first role may require travel to Boston for onboarding and occasional meetings, shaping technical direction and best practices as the team scales.

Qualifications

• PhD with 7+ years or MS with 10+ years in ML/data science or applied AI roles; 2+ years leading teams.
• Experience leveraging modern language models and classical ML in production.
• Expertise in statistical methods, experimental design, and model evaluation.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Experience with AWS and cross-functional collaboration to solve business problems.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Applied Scientists.
• Translate healthcare problems into scalable ML solutions.
• Validate solutions with rigorous methodology and experiments.
• Partner with AI Engineering to scale solutions for impact.
• Collaborate with Clinical Operations, Product, Engineering, and platform teams.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Contribute to recruiting, onboarding, and developing team members.
