Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Team Lead for Android to own core product work and raise how the team works around it. This is a hands-on role where you will write code, review code, and own features from design through release.

You will lead planning, unblock the team, and ensure reliable performance, with frequent collaboration across Product, Design, and Engineering. A strong focus on testing, quality, and shipping is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on.
• Proven Kotlin-based Android leadership and delivery.
• Experience shipping background audio or long-running background work.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end from design to release.
• Review PRs and provide actionable feedback.
• Unblock the team when progress stalls.
• Ensure shared components are stable and well-documented.
• Lead planning and drive decision making across product/design/engineering.
• Maintain reliable metrics for key features.
• Coordinate nightly builds for QA.
• Shift verification left to automate checks.
• Mentor junior engineers and grow talent.
