Job summary

Mercor is seeking a remote red team data expert to probe AI models with adversarial inputs, surface vulnerabilities, and generate the red team data that makes AI safer for customers. This work involves reviewing AI outputs touching sensitive topics, with topics clearly communicated before exposure.

You will annotate failures, classify vulnerabilities, and document reproducible reports and datasets to help customers strengthen their AI systems.

Qualifications

• Red team experience in AI adversarial work or cybersecurity.
• Curious and adversarial mindset that pushes systems to failure.
• Structured approach using benchmarks or playbooks to maintain consistency.
• Ability to clearly explain risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Red team conversational AI models and agents: jailbreaks, prompt injections, misuse cases, bias exploitation, multi-turn manipulation
• Generate high-quality human data: annotate failures, classify vulnerabilities, and flag systemic risks
• Apply structure: follow taxonomies, benchmarks, and playbooks to keep testing consistent
• Document reproducibly: produce reports, datasets, and attack cases customers can act on
