Job summary

Pheasants Forever in Minnesota seeks an agronomist-type professional to build relationships with farmers, advisors, and partners while preparing farm plans that integrate conservation and ag economics. This role travels within a ten-county area and supports grant and cost-share opportunities.

With telework up to 50% after training, the candidate will map, plan, and monitor conservation outcomes and host workshops for outreach. A bachelor’s in related fields or equivalent experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Initiative to make initial contacts and develop relationships.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with diverse clientele.
  • Customer relations and interpersonal skills to communicate with team and partners.
  • Knowledge of modern farm equipment, technology, agronomic and conservation practices.
  • Commitment to high standards and timely issue resolution.
  • Experience with ArcGIS for data and map handling.
  • Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement).
  • Ability to obtain USDA Federal Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Understand how economic data and precision data build profitable conservation solutions.
  • Lead recruitment of farmers interested in conservation solutions.
  • Work with Farm Bill Biologists to identify, enroll, and implement programs.
  • Use data tools to analyze ROI and profitability at sub-field levels.
  • Foster trust with farmers and the broader agriculture industry to boost program uptake.
  • Create and deliver education/outreach events for producers and trusted advisors.
  • Collaborate with local USDA to promote EQIP and CSP programs; write conservation plans.
