Job summary

Cross Environmental Services, Inc. is seeking a field remediator in Florida to perform asbestos and mold abatement and related construction tasks.

The role involves setup of containment areas, operation of decontamination units, and handling of disposal bags in accordance with safety procedures. Candidates should have remediation experience, be willing to travel, and pass background checks for access to government and public facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in asbestos remediation and general construction.
• Remediation training or certification preferred.
• Willing to work a variable schedule including overtime, night and weekend hours.
• Willingness to travel.
• Must clear background check and obtain site access (security clearances).

• Assembles scaffolding and seals off work area with plastic sheeting and duct tape.
• Positions decontamination unit or portable showers at entry of work area.
• Operates portable air evacuation and filtration system inside work area.
• Removes asbestos, mold or paint using knife or scraper.
• Assists in demolition and deconstruction activities.
• Cleans work area of asbestos, mold or paint with vacuum, broom, and dustpan.
• Loads bags into trucks and ensures proper disposal.
• Performs daily equipment checks and maintains tools and lab equipment.

• Assembles scaffolding and seals off work area, using plastic sheeting and duct tape.
• Positions mobile decontamination unit or portable showers at entrance of work area.
• Positions portable air evacuation and filtration system inside work area.
• Cuts and scrapes asbestos, mold or paint from surfaces, using knife and scraper.
• Assists in demolition and deconstruction activities of buildings
• Shovels asbestos, mold or paint into plastic disposal bags and seals bags, using duct tape.
• Cleans work area of loose asbestos, mold or paint, using vacuum, broom, and dustpan
• Places asbestos, mold or paint in disposal bags and seals bags, using duct tape, loads bags into truck.
• Cleans and maintains tools, sampling equipment and lab equipment.
• Responsible for keeping site and grounds clean and neat
• Performs daily equipment checks.
• Picks up necessary supplies and tools from warehouse as directed.
• Loads and unloads scrap materials into trucks and roll off boxes.
• Performs work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures and operates equipment safely. Reports any unsafe work condition or practice to supervisor.
• Performs other related and non-related duties as assigned
• Must always be clean shaven to allow immediate donning and seal of respirator

Requirements

• Successful work experience in asbestos, remediation, and general construction
• Remediation training and/or certification preferred
• Must be willing and able to work a VARIABLE SCHEDULE, including overtime, night, and weekend hours
• Willing to travel
• MUST be able to clear background check processes required to gain access (security clearance) on job sites including military bases, schools, and other public/government facilities
