Job summary

The Washington State Department of Ecology seeks a Cleanup Project Manager / Periodic Reviewer to manage contaminated sites under the Model Toxics Control Act and lead periodic reviews of completed cleanup sites in the Southwest Region.

This Environmental Engineer 2 or 3 position involves planning and directing cleanup projects, conducting field inspections, reviewing technical documents, negotiating orders, and ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Six years of experience (EE2) or three years (EE3) in environmental engineering, with expertise in regulatory compliance, environmental engineering, site assessment, or project management.
  • Professional Engineering license or Engineer-in-Training Certificate required for EE2; Professional Engineer registration in Washington required for EE3
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in sanitary, water resource, civil, geotechnical, environmental, chemical, mechanical engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated competence in evaluating engineering designs, reviewing technical studies, and conducting field investigations
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with consultants, responsible parties, local governments, and the public
