Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician for our Emergency department at the East Dallas, TX location. The role is relief-based, with compensation dependent on licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

You will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform digital radiography, and manage critical patient care with empathy for clients.

Qualifications

• Must be able to induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Experience in triaging emergency cases and obtaining vitals.
• Proficient in phlebotomy and placing IV catheters.
• Competent with digital radiography and proper patient positioning.
• Ability to interpret vital signs and alert the Veterinarian to changes.
• Knowledge of CPR protocols and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use anesthesia equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure).
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Initiate CPR for at-risk patients.
• Calculate medical dosing and administer medications.
• Place and maintain IV catheters and perform phlebotomy.
• Place feeding tubes and central line catheters when needed.
• Provide empathy and address client concerns.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team at our East Dallas, TX location!

Veterinary Technician with our Emergency department.

Dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
