Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Augusta, GA is seeking Relief Veterinary Technicians to join our team. You will assist in anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery, triage emergencies, and perform digital radiography as part of a fast-paced rehab and emergency setting.

Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, calculating meds, placing IV catheters, supporting clinicians, and mentoring junior staff while delivering compassionate client care in a hospital focused on pets' well-being.

Qualifications

• Experience with anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery.
• Ability to triage emergencies and monitor vitals.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy and placing IV catheters.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients.
• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Interpret vitals ranges and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosing and administer meds.
• Mentor and train other staff; maintain client relations.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking Relief Veterinary Technicians to join our team here in Augusta, GA!

Pay: $18.50 - $31.50 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$3.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$3.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential

As a Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
