• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice.
• Work performed in accordance with physician orders.
• Defined duties are performed in neonatal, pediatric and adult patient populations.
• Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.
• Administer aerosolized medication via Intermittent Positive Pressure Breathing (IPV), Intermittent Aersol Therapy (HHN) Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) dry Powder Inhalers (DPI).
• Administer medical gases.
• Assist with routine trach care.
• Assure correct set-up, safety and function of all equipment/supplies necessary in the provision of patient care.
• Document results and findings in the patients' records.
• Perform airway clearance maneuvers, Chest Physiotherapy (CPT) Incentive Spirometry (IS) Cough Assist.
• Perform bedside pulmonary mechanics.
• Perform CPR and bag-mask ventilation.
• Perform nasotracheal and artificial suctioning.
• Provide education to patients, families, physicians, nursing and other members of the health care team.
• Understand pharmacological indications, dosages and response to adverse drug reactions.
