Job summary

Stevens Treatment Programs is seeking a Relief / Per Diem Residential Counselor to support adolescents in a trauma-informed residential and educational setting. You will mentor youth through daily routines, challenges, and milestones, working alongside clinicians and educators to implement individualized treatment plans.

This flexible, as-needed position offers varied shifts (some days and evenings) with a minimum commitment and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
• Successful background check (EEC)
• Experience working with adolescents preferred but not required
• Ability to complete required training

Through a structured, trauma-informed residential and educational environment, we help young people build stability, resilience, and the skills they need to move forward with confidence.

The Role

As a Relief / Per Diem Residential Counselor, you are a steady, reliable presence in a young person’s life. You’ll mentor, guide, and support youth through daily routines, challenges, and milestones—helping them build trust, confidence, and coping skills that last far beyond their time in our care.

You’ll work alongside clinicians and educators to support individualized treatment plans in meaningful, practical ways.

Relief / Per Diem Expectations

This is a flexible, as‑needed position. There are NO mandated or forced shifts.

• Relief staff are expected to work a minimum of 24 hours per month during their first six months.
• After the initial six-month period, relief staff are expected to work at least 40 hours per quarter to remain active in the relief pool.
• Shifts are offered based on program needs and staff availability.
• Available shifts may include:
  • 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
  • 2:00 PM–10:00 PM
  • Shorter fill‑in shifts as available
• Staff may select shifts based on their availability; there are no mandated or forced shifts.

Required Training

Relief staff are required to participate in one monthly training, held virtually on the first Wednesday of each month.

Training is an important part of maintaining active status and ensuring all relief staff are prepared to safely and effectively support youth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
• Successful background check (EEC)
• Experience working with adolescents or special populations preferred, but not required
• Ability to successfully complete required training

Compensation

• $19.50–$20.50/hour, based on experience, education, and schedule
• +$1.00/hour for bilingual Spanish fluency
• Up to +$1.00/hour additional for medication administration, as applicable
• Holiday pay, as applicable
