Job summary

Cape Elizabeth School Department is seeking a Substitute Custodian to fill in for regular custodians and help maintain a safe and clean school environment in Cape Elizabeth. The role offers an hourly wage of $25.42–$28.02 and requires a high school diploma and Maine criminal history approval.

The substitute will perform custodial tasks, assist with setup/cleanup after activities, and report to the Head Custodian. Flexibility, teamwork, and reliability are essential to succeed in this position.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Possess a valid State of Maine Criminal History Records Check Approval.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for custodial duties.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building neat and clean at all times.
• Empties trash in classrooms, bathrooms, and all baskets daily.
• Vacuums/dry mops all floors and stairs daily.
• Washes classroom, hallways, bathroom floors daily, and stairs as needed.
• Cleans sinks and toilets in bathrooms daily and sinks in classrooms as needed.
• Replenishes soap and paper in all dispensers as needed.
• Vacuums all classrooms thoroughly at least weekly.
• Cleans locker tops weekly.
• Removes fingerprints and marks from walls.
• Burnishes hallways.
• Scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors weekly.
• Cleans and dusts furniture, exhibit cases, and whiteboards weekly.
• Washes glass in doors and windows.
• Helps set up and clean up after activities.
• Ensures opening/closing of building and security daily.
