My wife and I are looking for a dependable, nurturing sitter to support our three children, ages 8, 10, and 12. We both have busy professional schedules: I travel approximately six to eight times per month, and my wife typically works until 5:30 p.m. We primarily need care on the days when I am traveling.
Our most consistent need is Wednesdays from 12:45 to 5:00 p.m. We may also occasionally need care on other weekdays from approximately 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. A few times each month, the hours may extend later. We will provide advance notice whenever possible.
Responsibilities include supervising the children, preparing snacks, helping with after-school routines, supervising homework, very light tidying related to the children, and occasionally driving them to music lessons or sports practices.
Our oldest son has Autism Spectrum Disorder. He is non-speaking, but he is very communicative, affectionate, and sweet. He receives professional supports and, on occasion, may experience periods of emotional dysregulation that require a calm and patient response. Previous experience supporting children with autism is welcome but not required. The most important qualities are a willingness to learn, patience, good judgment, and openness to guidance. We are committed to helping the right sitter build the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to support him successfully.
The ideal candidate is reliable, nurturing, flexible, and comfortable caring for children with different needs. A valid driver's license and dependable transportation are required. We hope to find someone who can become a consistent and trusted presence for our family.
