Job summary

Voyager Technologies, based in Pittsburgh, seeks a Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety Engineer for Lunar Systems. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with safety standards for space systems, vehicles, and ground operations, and reports to the Manager.

Hybrid role in Pittsburgh with responsibilities spanning risk assessment, reliability analyses, and design input to improve mission safety and performance.

  • Design review input: Collaborating with design engineers to incorporate safety and reliability requirements.

The Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety Engineer for Lunar Systems is responsible forensuring that our space systems, launch vehicles, and ground operations comply with all regulatory requirements and safety standards.

The position reports to the Manager’s Title and is part of the Department based inPittsburgh, PA. This role is hybrid.

In this role, the essential functions are:(list 4-8 essential functions based on job seniority level).

  • Compliance management: Ensuring adherence to relevant safety and reliability standards and regulations, particularly launch license and range safety compliance.Evaluate the compliance of vehicles and their missions with applicable technical regulations.
  • Hazard identification and risk assessment: Conducting safety analyses like Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to identify potential hazards and assess their severity, likelihood, and risk level.
  • Reliability analysis: Performing reliability assessments on systems and components to predict potential failure modes and develop strategies to improve system reliability.
  • Design review and input: Collaborating with design engineers to incorporate safety and reliability requirements into new designs and modifications.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Investigating equipment failures to determine the underlying cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintenance strategy development: Working with maintenance teams to develop proactive maintenance plans based on reliability analysis to minimize downtime and optimize asset performance.

Preferred Qualifications: 2 maximum

  • Experience with space launch vehicle systems, flight test programs, or operational space missions.
  • Familiarity with launch range operations and safety systems at both governmental and private spaceports.
Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:
  • Travel up to X%, including the possibility of overnights within (describe area or range)
  • Ability to lift, move or carry items or equipment up to X pounds
  • Ensure your recruiter knows the clearance needed and TA will add the required verbiage such as ITAR

The good faith base salary range(OR hourly range) for this role is$XX,000–$XY,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
