Job summary

Perrigo is seeking a Reliability Engineer to lead the site asset care strategy and drive reliability improvements across manufacturing, utilities, and facilities. You will partner with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and EHS to reduce downtime, improve uptime and ensure compliance with cGMP and FDA requirements.

The role focuses on predictive and preventive maintenance, data-driven improvements, and KPI leadership to optimize asset performance and maintenance effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Reliability Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years in reliability/maintenance engineering in manufacturing.
  • Experience with RCA, FMEA, RCM, criticality assessments and defect elimination.
  • Strong troubleshooting, data analysis, communication and leadership.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and facility systems.

Responsibilities

Description Overview

The Reliability Engineer serves as the site reliability leader and technical subject matter expert for asset reliability, maintenance strategy, predictive maintenance, and continuous improvement. This position is responsible for improving equipment reliability, maintainability, asset performance, and operational effectiveness across manufacturing, packaging, utilities, warehouse, and facility systems.

The Reliability Engineer develops and drives the site Asset Care Strategy, leads reliability improvement initiatives, and partners closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and EHS to reduce equipment failures, improve uptime, optimize maintenance costs, and ensure compliance with cGMP, FDA, safety, and quality requirements.

The base salary range for this role is $120,000- $140,000

Scope of the Role
Asset Reliability & Maintenance Strategy
  • Lead the site Asset Care Strategy and reliability improvement programs, including RCA, FMEA, RCM, equipment criticality assessments, bad actor analysis, and defect elimination.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues, analyze maintenance and performance data, and implement sustainable corrective actions to improve uptime, reliability, maintainability, and asset life.
  • Optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including condition monitoring strategies such as vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound, and oil analysis.
  • Establish, monitor, and improve reliability KPIs, dashboards, spare parts strategies, equipment BOMs, asset hierarchies, and maintenance standards.
  • Partner with Maintenance, Planning, Operations, and Engineering to improve maintenance execution, equipment performance, and asset care effectiveness.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure reliability activities support cGMP, FDA, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Support equipment-related investigations, deviations, CAPAs, change controls, audit readiness, and inspection preparedness.
  • Ensure reliability programs reduce operational risk and support product quality, process capability, and asset integrity.
Continuous Improvement & Capital Projects
  • Lead reliability-focused initiatives that reduce downtime, improve OEE, optimize maintenance costs, and extend asset life.
  • Develop reliability improvement plans and long-term reliability roadmaps aligned with site objectives.
  • Support capital projects through reliability reviews, maintainability assessments, design reviews, installation support, commissioning, startup, and performance verification.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, contractors, suppliers, and engineering resources to improve reliability and implement new reliability technologies or digital maintenance tools.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
  • Serve as the site technical expert for reliability engineering, predictive maintenance, and asset performance improvement.
  • Provide technical coaching to maintenance personnel, planners, supervisors, engineers, and operations teams.
  • Support troubleshooting of complex equipment failures, critical maintenance events, and major operational disruptions.
  • Promote a culture of asset ownership, accountability, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Experience Required
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, asset management, or related experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience with RCA, FMEA, RCM, criticality assessments, defect elimination, preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Experience supporting maintenance planning, scheduling, maintenance optimization, asset performance improvement, and reliability KPIs.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, data analysis, communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, utilities, HVAC systems, pumps, motors, conveyors, instrumentation, controls, and facility infrastructure.
Preferred
  • Experience in FDA-regulated pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare, food, infant formula, or other GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with SAP PM, CMMS, and asset management systems.
  • Experience supporting capital projects, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • CMRP, RCM Certification, ISO Category I/II Vibration Analyst, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Thermography, Ultrasound, or Oil Analysis certifications.
