Job summary

PPG is seeking a Plant Reliability Engineer to ensure continuous, efficient and safe operation of plant equipment. You will develop strategies to minimize downtime, extend asset life and improve OEE across the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities include leading RCA investigations, designing preventive and predictive maintenance, and monitoring KPIs like MTBF and MTTR. Collaboration with maintenance and operations teams is essential to drive reliability improvements and capital project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related).
  • 3–7 years of experience in a manufacturing or process plant environment.
  • Proficiency in CMMS, vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication management, and predictive maintenance tools.

Job description

A Plant Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the continuous, efficient, and safe operation of plant equipment and systems. They develop and implement strategies to minimize unplanned downtime, extend asset life, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

Key Responsibilities
  • Reliability Strategy Development: Design and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce equipment failures and unplanned downtime.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead investigations into equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Asset Management: Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and prioritize maintenance activities.
  • Maintenance Planning: Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to schedule and optimize maintenance activities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive reliability improvement initiatives using methodologies such as RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and Six Sigma.
  • Capital Projects Support: Provide reliability input during the design and commissioning of new equipment or plant modifications.
  • KPI Tracking: Monitor key reliability metrics such as MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), and equipment availability.
  • Training & Mentoring: Support and train maintenance technicians and operators on reliability best practices.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • Experience: 3-7 years of experience in a manufacturing or process plant environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CMMS, vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication management, and other predictive maintenance tools.
  • Certifications (preferred): Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional).
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally.

The base salary for this position is between $85,000 to $90,000.
