Job summary

Roessel Joy is partnering with an insurance company in Boston, MA to hire a Reinsurance Accountant. The role focuses on supporting reinsurance accounting activities, claims processing, reconciliations and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have insurance industry experience with hands-on reinsurance claims experience and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, plus 3+ years of accounting experience. Compensation ranges from $90K-$120K depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required.
• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Insurance industry experience is required.
• Reinsurance claims experience is required.
• Strong understanding of reinsurance accounting and claims processes.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Strong Excel and accounting systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain reinsurance accounting activities.
• Process and reconcile reinsurance claims and related transactions.
• Review reinsurance agreements and ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Monitor reinsurance recoverables and outstanding claims balances.
• Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes.
• Prepare reinsurance-related reports and financial analysis.
• Research and resolve discrepancies related to claims and reinsurance activity.
• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, finance and other internal teams.
• Support audits and other reinsurance accounting projects.
