Qualifications

• National Certification as an Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) is recommended.

Responsibilities

• Carries out a range of pharmacy services to enhance patient care and experience, including admission medication review and Medication Therapy Management coordination.

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Plays a crucial role in enhancing patient care and experience by carrying out various pharmacy-related services, including but not limited to admission medication review, medication therapy management coordination, clinical support services, drug manufacturer program assistance, prior authorizations, procurement and other tasks. Requires ability to work independently, coordinate assigned projects efficiently, and effectively communicate with pharmacy staff, hospital administration, medical staff, patients, and external healthcare providers. The Pharmacy Technician Specialist effectively utilizes problem solving abilities, interpersonal skills and analytical expertise to support optimization of patient outcomes and experience.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

At least two years of experience as a pharmacy technician is required. Experience in a medical or pharmacy related field to include direct patient care activities; project coordination; processing and overseeing medical insurance billing and reimbursement cost capture, and/or procurement is preferred. Must have demonstrated independent judgment.

CERTIFICATION

Completion of advanced certificates as applicable to specialized role, are required for advanced pharmacy technician roles, as designated by supervisor and/or Pharmacy Technician Ladder. May be obtained after hire. National Certification as an Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) is recommended.

LICENSURE

Current pharmacy technician registration from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy is required
