Job summary

Sheppard Pratt Careers is seeking a Direct Care Support Staff for an in-person, full-time role in Hagerstown, MD. You will support mental health treatment in Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program services, helping clients access group activities and daily living supports.

You will provide a safe, therapeutic environment, work within a collaborative team to implement service plans, and assist with transportation and meal preparation as part of a day program focused on recovery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Must have a valid SERVSAFE certification upon hire or within 60 days.
• Driver's license with 3 points or less and access to insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and therapeutic environment for clients.
• Work with clients in group settings to learn or regain skills for community living.
• Ensure medication compliance and safety for clients.
• Collaborate with service team to develop and implement individual service plans.
• Provide transportation to medical appointments and accompany clients.

Description

Full-time 40 hour/week position, dayshift | In Person in Hagerstown, MD

Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) services consist of day programs and supportive living programs.Clients in our day programs have access to group activities, individual support, and mental health services.Clients in the supportive living program receive support in maintaining independent living and have access to the day program.

What to expect.

This is a direct care opportunity to provide support for mental health treatment. You willprovide a safe and therapeutic environment that encourages the overall independence and wellbeing of your clients.

Under general supervision, your responsibilities will include:

Works with clients in group settings to learn or regain skills for successful community living.

• Ensuringmedication compliance which involves responsibility for safety, dosage, and cleanliness.


• Working as a part of acollaborative service team to develop and implement individual service plans.


• Providing transportation and attending clients’ medical appointments. You will provideadvocacy services throughout the appointment and ensure that all follow-up instruction is documented and/or followed through on.


• Assisting the team with meal prep and distribution for breakfast and lunch.

As you spend time with your clients, you will find yourself developing a rapport with your clients whereyou become part of their trusted support system. You will see their wins as your wins as they work their way through the program and cheer them on as they progress in their recovery.

**All direct care staff will bethoroughly trainedto provide all services and should expect supportive and ever-present mentorship from senior staff members as they perform the requested duties.

Pay for this position is $19.31/hr.

What we need from you.

• Your high school diploma or a GED. Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.


• The willingness to obtain additional certifications and trainings as required.


• A driver’s license with 3-points or less and access to an insured vehicle.


• Must have availability to workdays, nights, weekends, and holidays depending upon need of the program.


• Requires current, valid SERVSAFE certification upon hire or within 60 days of hire.
