Job summary

Salem Transitional Care is seeking a Rehab Technician to join our Therapy team. You’ll work alongside the Therapy Director and therapists, providing hands-on support to residents during rehabilitation and helping keep the department organized.

This role combines patient care with administrative duties, including setup, mobility assistance, equipment prep, scheduling, and documentation, all while protecting resident privacy and fostering a positive, respectful environment.

Qualifications

  • Six months of experience in a long term care environment preferred.
  • No professional license required.
  • Comfortable safely assisting residents with transfers, mobility, and other physical tasks.
  • Strong communication, teamwork,and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Therapy Director to support daily department needs, organization, scheduling, and workflow.
  • Assist therapists with nonclinical tasks during treatment sessions, including resident setup, positioning, and equipment preparation.
  • Transport residents to and from therapy sessions safely and efficiently.
  • Help residents with mobility as directed by the Therapy team.
  • Support restorative activities as delegated, including range of motion exercises, ambulation, transfers, and activities of daily living.
  • Monitor residents during assigned activities and report changes or concerns to nursing or Therapy staff.
  • Maintain therapy spaces by cleaning equipment, organizing supplies, and creating a safe environment.
  • Order therapy equipment and supplies based on department and resident needs.
  • Support the Therapy Director and therapists with scheduling, filing, documentation, and other administrative tasks.

Salem Transitional Care is looking for a Rehab Technician to join our Therapy team! In this role, you’ll work closely alongside our Therapy Director and therapists, providing hands on and administrative support to help keep the department organized, prepared, and running smoothly. You’ll also work directly with residents throughout their rehabilitation journey, helping create a positive and supportive therapy experience.

What You’ll Do

As our Rehab Technician, you’ll work closely with the Therapy Director and serve as an important support for the day to day operations of the Therapy department. You’ll help our therapists stay organized and prepared while also providing hands on support to residents. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the Therapy Director to support daily department needs, organization, scheduling, and workflow
  • Assisting therapists with nonclinical tasks during treatment sessions, including resident setup, positioning, and equipment preparation
  • Transporting residents to and from therapy sessions safely and efficiently
  • Helping residents with mobility as directed by the Therapy team
  • Supporting restorative activities as delegated, including range of motion exercises, ambulation, transfers, and activities of daily living
  • Monitoring residents during assigned activities and promptly reporting changes or concerns to nursing or Therapy staff
  • Maintaining therapy spaces by cleaning equipment, organizing supplies, and helping provide a safe and welcoming environment
  • Ordering therapy equipment and supplies based on department and resident needs
  • Supporting the Therapy Director and therapists with scheduling, filing, documentation, and other administrative tasks
  • Assisting with maintaining Therapy department records, reports, and required documentation
  • Helping coordinate Therapy schedules to support resident care and department needs
  • Responding to phone calls, requests, and inquiries and directing them to the appropriate team member
  • Verifying insurance information as needed to support proper reimbursement
  • Maintaining positive and professional relationships with residents, families, coworkers, and other departments
  • Protecting resident privacy and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements
  • Supporting resident independence, dignity, and participation in functional activities
  • Helping wherever needed to support the Therapy Director, Therapy team, and overall operation of the department

Licensure

Experience
  • Six months of experience in a long term care environment preferred
  • Previous experience in rehabilitation, healthcare, long term care, resident care, or administrative support is a plus
Additional Requirements
  • Comfortable safely assisting residents with transfers, mobility, and other physical tasks
  • Capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and assisting with mobility throughout the workday
  • Able to respond quickly and safely in resident care situations
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to maintaining resident confidentiality and following HIPAA requirements
  • Regular and dependable attendance
  • Successful completion of all applicable state required background check requirements before working with residents
