Commonwealth of Virginia’s Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute is seeking a Rehab Assistant to support active treatment for adults with serious mental illness. You will help plan and facilitate day, evening and weekend activities and document progress in the EHR, following hospital and departmental policies.
The position requires a valid driver’s license and flexibility to work 10:30 am to 7:30 pm, every other weekend, holidays, and evenings as scheduled.

To facilitate and co-facilitate active treatment with adults with serious mental illness. To plan and facilitate day, evening and weekend activities and special events. To document on group attendance and progress according to hospital and departmental policy. To provide assistance in aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Rehab Services Department in particular the Media Center and Community Meetings. To facilitate trips into the community with the individuals served. To provide quality services in line with hospital and departmental missions, policies, and procedures.
Please Note: This position will work 10:30 am to 7:30 pm or as scheduled by the supervisor to meet the business needs of the facility. This position must be able to work every other weekend with the adjusted day off on Thursdays and be available to work holidays, evenings, and irregular hours as assigned.
This position requires basic computer skills as you will be trained to complete documentation in an Electronic Health Record (EHR). Must possess a valid vehicle operator’s license, which must remain valid throughout employment.
