Job summary

Altria in Richmond, VA is seeking a Regulatory Scientist II to assure quality and drive improvements in a manufacturing environment. You will work with laboratory staff to deliver accurate test results, maintain equipment, and provide technical support across production shifts.

The role requires a BS in Chemistry or related field, 1 year of analytical chemistry experience, familiarity with ISO 17025/ISO 9001, and proficiency with HPLC, GC, IC, and FTIR instrumentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory with three years of industry experience preferred.
• Experience in a regulated industry and familiarity with quality lab operations and quality systems such as ISO 17025 or ISO 9001 desired.
• Excellent verbal, written, and digital skills; strong attention to detail.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute testing activities with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Sample and test raw and in-process materials for conformance to specifications and release approved materials to production.
• Perform analytical and physical testing related to process monitoring and quality control.
• Review and approve data generated by laboratory staff.
• Perform calibrations, verifications, maintenance, and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment.
• Initiate and lead out of specification and suspect data investigations with corrective and preventive actions.
• Manage inventory of laboratory consumables, reagents, and equipment calibration.
• Assist with the design of laboratory experiments for method development, validation, and process improvements.
• Conduct peer-to-peer training on laboratory methods and document revisions.
