Job summary

TTI Outdoor Power Equipment in Anderson, SC is seeking a Regulatory Engineer responsible for developing expertise in applicable standards for new and complex product development and support of mature products.

You will manage listings with UL, CSA, TUV, ETL, and SGS, interface with design engineers on regulatory schedules, and assess product compliance across multiple programs, communicating with agencies and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to explain technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences in email and meetings.
  • Experience evaluating, testing, and reviewing electronic circuits.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs.
  • Strong communication across all functional areas and internationally.
  • Works with a sense of urgency, initiative, and ability to work independently.
  • Experience in international travel is a plus.
  • Experience applying regulatory standards to product designs.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar field.
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies.
  • Knowledge of Li‑Ion Battery electronics and charging systems.
  • Knowledge of IEC/UL60730 software evaluations.
  • BMS design hardware and software knowledge.
  • Schematic interpretation/design.
  • Soldering technique.

Responsibilities

  • Handle UL, CSA, TUV, ETL, and SGS product listings, file changes, withdrawals, and variation notices for files maintained by TTI.
  • Interface daily with design engineers on regulatory listings issues and schedules.
  • Analyze new product constructions for compliance with applicable standards.
  • Communicate standards issues with regulatory agencies and maintain good relations.
  • Discuss standards with regulatory agencies, focusing on company interests and standard scopes.
  • Assist with training lab personnel on standards and testing requirements.
  • Lead in ensuring lab staff have knowledge for certification through regulatory audits.
  • Work with lab management to ensure CTDP status and readiness for yearly audits.
  • Interface with agencies to understand standards for new and unusual products.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Quality, TDI, and Product Safety.
  • Prepare draft descriptive reports, figures, illustrations, and datasheets for listings.

TTI Outdoor Power Equipment has an opening in its Anderson, SC office for a Regulatory Engineer that is responsible and accountable for developing expertise in all standards that apply to new and complex product development programs and support of mature products.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for handling UL, CSA, TUV, ETL, and SGS product listings, file changes, file withdrawals, and variation notices, for files maintained by TTI.
  • Interface daily with all new product and mature product design engineers concerning issues and schedules related to regulatory listings.
  • Analyze and evaluate new product constructions and effectively communicate how well they do or do not comply with the appropriate standard(s).
  • Adjust communications to support success and maintain an open and honest relationship with all regulatory agencies.
  • Discuss standards issues with regulatory agencies, always maintaining the interest of the company while staying within the scope and intent of applicable standards.
  • Assist with training all lab personnel through a complete understanding of the standards as well as the testing requirements.
  • Take a lead role in assuring that lab technicians have the necessary knowledge to ensure their certification through regulatory agency audits.
  • Work with the lab management to ensure lab CTDP (Client Test Data Program) status, including lab, equipment, and personnel readiness for yearly audits.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies to understand what standards apply to what products, especially for new and unusual products not covered under a specific standard.
  • Interface daily with members of Product Management, Engineering, Quality, TDI, and Product Safety.
  • Prepare draft descriptive reports, figures, illustrations, and datasheets for product listings.
