Job summary

The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) seeks a City Research Scientist in the RAD to advance data-driven enforcement of consumer and worker protection laws. You will work with investigators and attorneys to design data collection, build analytical tools, and support evidence-based decision making.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in an appropriate physical, biological, environmental or public health science field.
• Doctorate or Master’s with related research experience may be required for higher levels.
• Experience interpreting regulatory concepts and data structures is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify data and documentation needed to evaluate compliance with NYC worker and consumer protection laws.
• Communicate with counsel and technical staff to obtain responsive data and documentation.
• Develop data analysis tools to describe practices, identify key witnesses, and quantify damages.
• Assess how data insights inform investigations and improve processes.
• Advise leadership on technology regulation and policy implications.
