- Lead regulatory compliance activities for commercial food-grade equipment and related products across the U.S., Canada, and other applicable markets.
- Provide technical expertise on product regulations, equipment labeling, packaging requirements, environmental regulations, EPR obligations, product claims, and market-specific compliance requirements.
- Own and manage Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance programs, including monitoring regulatory changes, determining applicability to products and packaging, coordinating reporting requirements, and ensuring timely compliance across applicable jurisdictions.
- Ensure products, components, packaging materials, documentation, and labeling comply with applicable federal, state, provincial, and international regulations and company standards.
- Monitor and interpret emerging regulatory requirements, environmental legislation, EPR requirements, product regulations, enforcement actions, and market-specific compliance changes to proactively identify and mitigate risk.
- Partner with Engineering, Product Development, Marketing, Packaging, Supply Chain, Legal, and other internal teams to incorporate regulatory requirements into product design, development, and commercialization.
- Develop and maintain regulatory compliance processes, documentation, and systems to support product launches and ongoing compliance.
- Support third-party certification audits, corporate compliance programs, and other external regulatory assessments.
Product Labeling, Packaging & Claims
- Own the review and approval of product labeling and packaging for commercial food-grade equipment, ensuring all required information is accurate and compliant before products are manufactured, shipped, or commercialized.
- Review product labels, packaging artwork, manuals, warnings, safety information, regulatory markings, certifications, and other customer-facing product documentation.
- Partner with Engineering and Product Development to ensure regulatory and labeling requirements are incorporated into new product development and design changes.
- Review and approve packaging key lines and product documentation prior to production and release.
- Evaluate product claims, marketing materials, ecommerce content, technical literature, and other customer-facing materials for regulatory compliance.
- Ensure third-party certifications, marks, claims, and regulatory statements are properly supported and approved for use on products, packaging, websites, and marketing materials.
- Maintain current knowledge of product labeling, packaging, environmental, sustainability, and EPR requirements affecting commercial equipment.
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert for Extended Producer Responsibility and product/packaging environmental compliance.
- Monitor EPR legislation and other environmental requirements across applicable states, provinces, and international markets.
- Determine regulatory applicability and coordinate internal data collection, registrations, reporting, and documentation required to maintain compliance.
- Partner with Supply Chain, Packaging, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate product and packaging data is available for EPR reporting and compliance obligations.
- Assess the regulatory impact of changes to products, packaging, materials, and markets and communicate requirements to appropriate stakeholders.
Regulatory & Stakeholder Liaison
- Serve as a primary liaison with regulatory agencies, certification organizations, legal counsel, customers, and other external stakeholders on product compliance matters.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to interpret regulatory requirements and implement appropriate compliance strategies.
- Keep senior leadership informed of emerging product regulatory, labeling, packaging, EPR, environmental, and compliance requirements.
- Provide regulatory guidance to cross-functional teams throughout product development, commercialization, and ongoing product lifecycle management.
Product Compliance, Crisis Management & Corrective Action
- Support investigations and corrective actions related to product compliance, labeling, packaging, regulatory, or customer issues.
- Develop and maintain product compliance documentation and procedures.
- Support product recall or corrective action activities when regulatory or product compliance issues arise.
- Coordinate regulatory response activities and ensure appropriate documentation is maintained.
Customer & Commercial Support
- Provide regulatory and technical support to Sales, Customer Service, and other commercial teams.
- Prepare and maintain documentation such as letters of compliance, certificates, declarations, technical documentation, regulatory statements, and other customer-requested materials.
- Respond to customer questions regarding product compliance, labeling, certifications, packaging, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support international market expansion by evaluating product and labeling requirements for new markets.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Regulatory Affairs, Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, Legal Studies, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of relevant regulatory compliance experience, preferably supporting manufactured products, commercial equipment, industrial equipment, appliances, or other regulated products.
- Strong hands-on experience with product labeling and packaging compliance.
- Demonstrated experience with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements and environmental/product stewardship programs.
- Experience interpreting and implementing product-related regulatory requirements across multiple U.S. states, Canadian provinces, and/or international markets.
- Experience supporting product commercialization and working cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Development, Marketing, Packaging, Supply Chain, and Legal teams.
- Strong understanding of product labeling, packaging, product claims, regulatory markings, certifications, and compliance documentation.
- Experience monitoring regulatory changes and translating requirements into actionable business processes.
- Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex regulatory requirements to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies, certification organizations, legal counsel, customers, and external compliance partners.
- Proficiency with regulatory documentation and compliance systems, such as SharePoint or similar platforms.
- Ability to travel less than 20%.
