Job summary

Urban Grid is seeking a Regulatory Compliance Manager to oversee our regional and national energy regulation compliance programs. You will manage onboarding for new projects, drive program governance, and reduce risk across multiple assets while maintaining strong external relationships with regulators.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree, 5+ years in regulatory compliance in energy, and deep knowledge of NERC CIP, FERC, EIA, and PJM/MISO.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, or engineering; master's preferred.
  • At least 5 years of professional regulatory compliance experience in the energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of solar energy technology, finance, and operations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership across levels of the organization.
  • Experience with NERC CIP compliance and federal reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the regulatory compliance framework aligning with policies, licenses, and permits.
  • Oversee submission of federal, regional, and local energy compliance requirements (FERC, NERC, RTOs, ISOs, EIA).
  • Manage NERC consultants and program management.
  • Monitor changes in regulations and industry standards affecting renewable energy and electricity markets.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure lifecycle regulatory compliance for projects.

Job Summary

As a Regulatory Compliance Manager, you will be responsible and accountable for overseeing the compliance program for regional and national energy regulations of the company’s operating assets. This includes NERC, FERC, EIA, RTO and transmission owner compliance initiatives. The Regulatory Compliance Manager will also be responsible for the regulatory compliance onboarding efforts of each project as well as the ongoing program management, reducing risks and ensuring the projects comply with all regulations.


The position requires excellent communication, teamwork, report writing skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage and flex with multiple projects and schedules simultaneously, ability to shift priorities, meet deadlines, and develop good and maintain good relationship with both internal and external clients and drive to meet their needs.


Responsibilities


  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s regulatory compliance framework, ensuring adherence to all relevant policies, licenses, and permits.

  • Oversee the submission process of all federal, regional and local energy compliance requirements including FERC, NERC, RTOs, ISOs and EIA.

  • Oversee NERC consultant and NERC program management.

  • Monitor and analyze changes in local, state and federal regulations and industry standards related to renewable energy and electricity market operations.

  • Work with internal teams to ensure projects meet all regulatory requirements throughout their lifecycle.

  • Assist in the development of compliance policies and procedures

  • Conduct compliance risk assessments and audits across operations to identify gaps and potential non‑compliance issues.

  • Act as the primary liaison between the company and regulatory bodies, ensuring ongoing communication, reporting and relationship management.

  • Develop and deliver training programs for employees and management on regulatory compliance matters

  • Ensure that all regulatory reports are completed accurately and submitted on time


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, or engineering. Master's degree preferred.

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in regulatory compliance or a related field in the energy sector, with a track record of success in supporting compliance programs.

  • Strong knowledge of solar energy technology, finance, and operations.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to work successfully across different levels of an organization.

  • Experience with NERC and NERC CIP compliance.

  • Experience with NERC, EIA and other federal reporting.

  • Experience in PJM, MISO and/or TVA is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Excellent organizational skills and able to shift and set new priorities in moment’s notice.

  • Self-motivated, high energy, and has proven leadership skills in challenging environments.

  • Excellent technical, analytical, computer, and oral and written communication skills. Strong in Microsoft Office Suite, advanced knowledge of MS Excel.

  • Location: Hybrid in Houston, Texas (4 days in office, Fridays remote).

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Visa sponsorship or transfer visas, including H-1B or L-2, are not available for this position.
