Job summary

GFS Chemicals, a Columbus, Ohio-based chemical manufacturer, seeks a Regulatory Compliance Coordinator to support quality, safety and environmental compliance efforts. The role includes on-site facility inspections to ensure adherence to EPA, FDA, DOT, and DEA rules and to collect, analyze and archive critical process data.

Responsibilities cover audits, recordkeeping, training and developing compliance programs, with a focus on safety, environmental sustainability and quality culture.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in chemistry or 2+ years of regulatory compliance experience in chemical manufacturing.
• Familiarity with EPA, FDA, DOT and DEA regulations and environmental requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication, plus documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Support internal safety, quality and regulatory audits, including records preparation and tracking follow-ups.
• Maintain routine records, monitoring, auditing and training activities to meet divisional goals.
• Coordinate and support waste management programs and regulatory records management.
• Review regulatory changes and advise on applicable requirements for operations.
• Assist management in developing and standardizing quality, safety and regulatory programs.

Regulatory Compliance Coordinator

About the Job

GFS Chemicals is seeking a Regulatory Compliance Coordinator to join our Shared Services Division at our McKinley Avenue location. The Regulatory Compliance Coordinator will support our Quality, Safety, and Environmental compliance efforts. This role involves conducting routine on-site facility inspections to ensure compliance with local, regional, state, and federal regulations, including EPA, FDA, DOT, and DEA requirements. Additionally, the role will be integral in collecting, analyzing, reporting, and archiving critical process data.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and participate in internal safety, quality and regulatory audits, including preparation of records, documentation of findings and tracking follow-ups
• Support divisional goals with routine recordkeeping, monitoring, auditing, and training activities
• Promote and support efforts to foster a culture of enhanced safety, environmental sustainability, and quality
• Organize and maintain regulatory and environmental compliance records
• Serve as a reliable point of contact for regulatory compliance related to the chemical manufacturing industry
• Coordinate facility waste management program in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Review and consult on new and changing local/state/federal regulations applicable to GFS Chemicals operations
• Assist management with the development, enhancement, and standardization of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance programs
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education & Experience:
• Associate’s degree in the Chemistry or relevant field or a minimum of 2 years of quality or regulatory compliance experience in the chemical manufacturing industry
• Familiarity with applicable environmental regulations and requirements (EPA)
• Core Skills:
• Advanced Familiarity with boilers, air compressors, HVAC, electrical systems, and control systems
• Ability to solve problems quickly with advanced conflict resolution skills
• Demonstrated ability to balance multiple high-priority responsibilities effectively and on time
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Experience leading and executing internal safety audits
• Outstanding analytical abilities
• Good organizational and record-keeping practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Must be self-driven and have the ability to work independently and balance multiple priorities
• Effective verbal and written communicator, able to communicate with a variety of audiences and management levels
• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required for this role
• Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task; quickly transition from one task to another while responding to interruptions
• Working knowledge of one or more of the following is a plus:
  • 40 CFR - Protection of Environment (EPA)
  • 49 CFR - Transportation (DOT)
  • ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management Systems
