Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a License & Compliance Coordinator to support permitting, compliance, and coordination of regulatory tasks across multiple hydroelectric projects.

You will interpret requirements, conduct field inspections, and maintain records while engaging with regulators, stakeholders, and the public. Travel to field locations may be required as part of duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Natural Science, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Geography, Planning, or related field is required.
  • 1–3 years of regulatory compliance or environmental permitting experience preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficient computer/Office suite use.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with review, processing, and interpretation of communications with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with ensuring activities comply with regulations, including license requirements.
  • Learn to interpret environmental regulatory requirements (FERC, USACE, state agencies, etc.).
  • Assist with maintaining records to demonstrate license compliance.
  • Assist with on-site inspections of project area to assess compliance.
  • Assist with monitoring and documenting findings.
  • Coordinate with contractors on compliance-related projects per FERC license or other agencies.
  • Act as SME and primary point of contact for inquiries from regulatory agencies.
