Attorney General & Dept of Law in Virginia seeks an attorney for the Ratepayer Advocacy Section in Richmond. You will represent the Office’s Division of Consumer Counsel in state regulatory proceedings and federal matters, focusing on energy, water, telecommunications, and insurance issues.

This role combines litigation with regulatory analysis, drafting pleadings, appearing at hearings, and advising on policy. Virginia Bar admission and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one (1) to five (5) years of relevant experience in regulatory or administrative litigation involving electric, natural gas, or water utilities, or telecommunications or insurance companies, with an academic or professional background in accounting, economics, finance, and/or engineering.
• The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical ability, the ability to interact effectively with state government officials, and the ability to work both independently and as a team member.
• Admission to the Virginia State Bar is required.

Responsabilités

• The Virginia Office of the Attorney General represents the Office’s Division of Consumer Counsel in state regulatory proceedings before the Virginia State Corporation Commission and Supreme Court of Virginia, and in federal administrative proceedings at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, drafting pleadings, handling discovery, and presenting oral and written legal arguments.
