Spark Academy, a co-ed residential program for adolescents, seeks dynamic life coaches to empower teens with neurodiversity in developing life skills and achieving goals. You will mentor students one-on-one and in groups, engaging in activities that foster confidence and resilience.

Responsibilities

• Develop close, personal, and emotionally supportive relationships with students.
• Implement clinical treatment plans as outlined by the Treatment Team.
• Maintain a healthy, safe, and caregiving environment.
• Participate in activities to develop life skills (sports, biking, skiing, etc.).
• Use mediation/intervention techniques to support students during escalations.
• Respond promptly to crises in a calm, controlled manner.
• Assess situations and apply de-escalation strategies.
• Communicate effectively with individuals in crisis using active listening.
• Transport students to off-campus appointments using company vehicles.

Job description

Spark Academy is a co-ed, residential treatment program for adolescents specializing in neurodiversity. The students in Spark Academy struggle with challenges from high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder and other similar diagnoses.

Spark Academy is seeking dynamic and passionate life coaches to join our team! As a life coach at Spark Academy, you'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of teenagers, helping them discover their passions and reach their full potential. You'll work with them one-on-one, in small groups, and participate side-by-side in activities to help them develop life skills, set and achieve goals, and build confidence and resilience.

Spark Academy is part of the parent company, The Heritage Community, located in Provo, UT. Originally founded in 1984, The Heritage Community is a long-standing and established, non-profit 501(c)(3) treatment program! So, if you're ready to join a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to helping teenagers succeed.

Schedule

• Monday, Wednesday, Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
• Monday, Wednesday, Friday 2:30 pm -10:00 pm
• Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
• Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 2:30 pm -10:00 pm
• Will also include a Sunday rotation, working one Sunday every four weeks, 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM.

• Physical fitness and stamina to effectively respond to physically demanding situations

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop close, personal, and emotionally supportive relationships with the students to coach them in their treatment progression.
• Implement clinical treatment plans as outlined by the Treatment Team.
• Ensure that a healthy, comfortable, safe, and caregiving environment is maintained.
• Participate in a wide variety of activities with the students, encouraging and supporting them to develop the skills associated with the tasks (i.e., sports, bike riding, skiing, rock climbing, hiking, swimming, etc.).
• Properly use a variety of mediation and intervention techniques to redirect students who need support and guidance during escalated moments.
• Respond promptly to crisis situations and disturbances in a calm and controlled manner.
• Assess the situation to determine appropriate de-escalation techniques and intervention strategies.
• Communicate effectively with individuals in crisis, using active listening and empathy to build rapport.
• Transport the students to and from off-campus appointments and activities using company vehicles.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 20 years of age or older to apply.
• Physical ability to provide interventions, such as safety holds.
• A valid Driver's License, and no more than one traffic violation on a driving record in the past three years to be approved to transport students using company vehicles.
• Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
