Saint Francis Healthcare System is seeking a Registration Specialist to manage check-in, preregistration, registration, preadmission and admission duties. You will collect demographic data, verify insurance, obtain signatures, and scan documents into the medical record.

You will work with scheduling, authorizations and referrals as needed, answer phones, process payments, and ensure compliant, efficient patient flow to support reimbursement and patient care.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in a business, billing, or healthcare scheduling/registration/admissions setting preferred.
  • Must efficiently utilize computer software and maintain professional manners in communication.
  • Must demonstrate appropriate and timely independent judgment and handle sensitive information per HIPAA and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Handle check-in, preregistration, registration, preadmission and admission processes.
  • Obtain demographic information, verify insurance, signatures on consent forms, and scan into the medical record.
  • Answer phones, fax, scan documents, and manage system work queues; assist as needed.
  • Cross-train with Scheduling, Authorization, & Referrals to support workflow.
  • Collaborate with staff to maximize reimbursement and ensure smooth patient flow and high-quality customer service.

These functions include but are not limited to obtaining accurate and thorough demographic information, responsibility for adhering to compliance with CMS, government payors, commercial and third party payors, EMTALA, and The Joint Commission rules and regulations and ensuring compliance, requirements, benefit verification, preauthorization requirements, signatures on consent for treatment, co-pay collection and other payments on previous balances, obtaining information, pictures and signature on HIPAA forms, issuing Medicare/Tricare Important Messages and Patient Rights and Responsibilities. The Registration Specialist is goal-oriented and makes decisions based on the worth and success of each individual involved in the Revenue Cycle.-Responsible for obtaining photo ID, insurance cards, signed forms and orders (when applicable) and scanning into the medical record at the time of registration/admission.-Responsible for working and maintaining system work queues.-This position will also require answering the telephone, faxing, scanning, DPM’s, and various other duties assigned by the manager.-This individual will be crossed trained with the System Scheduling, Authorization, & Referrals to assist as needed.-Works closely with other personnel to ensure a smooth, timely flow of patients and information to maximize reimbursement for services.-Promotes harmonious and efficient intra and inter departmental relationships and delivers quality customer service.-Adheres to the Mission, Vision, Values and Philosophy of the department and Saint Francis Healthcare System.-Constantly works with and maintains restricted or confidential information from many sources within the Healthcare System.-Any and all duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Manager.JOB DETAILS AND REQUIREMENTSShift: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pmEducation:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredCertification & Licensures:N/AExperience:-Two years of experience in a business, billing, or healthcare scheduling/registration/admissions setting preferred.-Ability to proficiently utilize a computer and software programs is essential.-Must maintain a professional and courteous manners in dealing with customers and staff in all manners of communication.-Must demonstrate appropriate and timely independent judgment.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONWhy Work at Saint Francis?Saint Francis Healthcare System began in 1875 when three courageous Franciscan Sisters answered a call to care for those in need.
