Job description

Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Registrar, Trauma/Data - Brooklyn.

The Trauma Registrar is responsible for gathering, organizing, and reporting trauma data for our patients, ensuring compliance with NY State mandates, and maintaining our Trauma Registry.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Enhance professional growth through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, literature, and workshops.
  2. Identify trauma patients discharged from the hospital who are candidates for entry into the Trauma Registry.
  3. Collect, abstract, and input data into the Trauma Registry according to facility, regional, and state guidelines.
  4. Export data on a scheduled basis to designated State and Regional agencies.
  5. Participate in regional Trauma Registrar meetings.
  6. Maintain the facility's Trauma Registry.
  7. Serve as a resource for other departments regarding statistical information on trauma patients through QA/QI processes.
  8. Prepare demographic and statistical reports to support trauma care evaluation and improvement.
  9. Participate in trauma QA/QI programs at hospital and regional levels.
  10. Engage in trauma research and educational activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required; Associate Degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Clinical background and/or experience with abstracting or medical record coding is essential.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of NY State Trauma software.
