Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in New Mexico is hiring a Registrar I to be the first point of contact for patients and families entering the health system. You will register patients, verify insurance, and collect payments to ensure a smooth, accurate experience.

The role requires a high school diploma, strong customer service skills, and EPIC Registration competency after training. This full-time night shift emphasizes accurate data, confidentiality, and coordinated care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Less than 1 year of clerical or healthcare office experience required.
  • 1–2 years of customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to work cooperatively with the public, staff, and leadership at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills required.
  • Basic computer keyboarding and 10-key skills required.
  • Must successfully complete EPIC Registration competency following Epic Clerical Training.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact by answering phones, greeting visitors, and directing inquiries.
  • Register patients and maintain accurate demographic, insurance, and financial information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and collect required signatures and payments at time of service.
  • Support financial processes including payment collection, receipts, and daily reconciliation.
  • Update patient records in hospital systems and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients regarding coverage, co-pays, and balances.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, EMTALA, and regulatory standards.
  • Support additional coverage needs and respond to supervisor feedback as needed.
