Job summary

Wellington Regional Medical Center in Wellington, Florida, is seeking a full-time patient access specialist to greet, collect demographics and initiate ED registration. You will verify third-party reimbursement and maintain records while floating to other areas as needed.

The role includes recognizing stroke signs, verbalizing the alert process, and completing annual stroke training to stay current. This position supports UHS's mission and fosters growth.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED Diploma preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in acute care facility or related environment preferred, but not necessary.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained in other areas. (Admitting, Business Office, ER)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail oriented and organizational skills required.

  • Familiarity with HMO/PPO contracts beneficial

This opportunity is full-time at 40 hours per week, offers full benefits and a convenient schedule working 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday - Thursday.

Job Requirements

Greets, collects and processes all incoming patients to gather the necessary demographic information required in accordance with all regulations and hospital policies to provide care for the patients, procure reimbursement verification from third parties, and maintain records appropriately. Has a willingness to be cross-trained and will float to other areas or departments if the need arises. Recognizes the signs and symptoms of stroke and calling a stroke alert overhead. Verbalizes stroke alert process. Assigns temporary identification of patient (ED only), completes full registration upon patient arrival to the ED. Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the annual 1 hour online training.
