Registered Veterinary Technician (Surgery & Anesthesia) – Veterinary Referral Associates

PetVet Care Centers' Veterinary Referral Associates is currently seeking a Surgery & Anesthesia - Registered Veterinary Technician (Day Shift) to join our team. Up to $1,500.00 Sign On bonus for Full Time Qualified Credentialed Candidates.

Position Overview

Join our team as a surgery and anesthesia veterinary technician. You will support hospital operations by providing quality veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients. Responsibilities include determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostics, assisting during surgery, providing nursing care, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharge, and maintaining patient medical records.

Responsibilities

• Perform examinations and diagnostic procedures for pets.
• Assist veterinarians during surgeries and other operative procedures.
• Provide day‑to‑day nursing care for patients.
• Maintain medical supplies, equipment, and inventory.
• Assist with feeding, monitoring, and caring for patients.
• Oversee triage and discharge processes.
• Maintain accurate patient medical records.
• Responsible for anesthesia duties such as inducing, intubating, monitoring anesthesia, drug calculations, and patient advocacy.
• Perform IV placement, phlebotomy, arterial catheter placement, and other advanced procedures as required.
• Clean and sterilize instruments and maintain a sterile environment.
• Communicate with clients and provide education regarding patient care.

Qualifications

• RVT license is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician with strong technical skills and veterinary knowledge.
• Proficiency in IVC placement, phlebotomy, radiology, and vitals assessment for dogs and cats.
• Ability to safely restrain animals using proper restraint techniques.
• Strong initiative and teamwork skills.
• Excellent communication and client‑service skills.
• Sound decision‑making skills and ability to multi‑task under stress.
• Legal requirement to be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

• Experience monitoring anesthesia.
• Opportunity to perform anesthetic monitoring after adequate in‑house training and competency assessment.

Schedule and Compensation

• Four 10‑hour shifts per week.
• 90‑day initial training period with rotating shifts (morning, evening, weekend).
• On‑call coverage: Full‑time employees required to sign up for 24 hours per month after 90 days; anesthesia technicians transition to anesthesia on‑call following approval.
• Weekday overnights, one weekend per month, and one holiday per year are included.

Pay Range: $27.52 – $33.64 USD per hour
