Job summary

Newark Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to support outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry. You will contribute to a consistent standard of care, maintain detailed medical records, and work across exam room and procedures with a collaborative team in Newark, Ohio.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of veterinary technician experience.
  • Active and good-standing Ohio RVT license.
  • Proficiency in patient assessment, anesthesia, surgical support, and nursing care.
  • Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography proficiency.
  • Accurate medical record documentation and drug calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Support efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows.
  • Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Assist in surgery.
  • Perform dental procedures including prophylaxis and radiography.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
  • Review treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately.

Job description

Newark Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team and support both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry.

We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment - balancing exam room care, client communication, and hands-on procedural support. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care.

In this position, you will play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout the patient visit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
  • Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Assisting in surgery
  • Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
  • Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital
  • Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service

This role is ideal for technicians who enjoy variety in their day, are confident moving between exam room and procedure support, and want to fully utilize their clinical knowledge, technical skillset, and client communication abilities in a collaborative general practice environment.

Schedule and compensation:

  • Compensation: $ 20-24 per hour, for each hour worked
  • This is a full-time position, with availability needed Monday-Friday . No weekends!

Full-time Benefits Package*:

  • Bonus package: $2,000 based on active, good-standing veterinary technician credentials in the state of Ohio
  • CE allowance: $500-$1,000 based on tenure and credentials

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

  • 3+ years of veterinary technician experience
  • Active and good-standingRegistered Veterinary Technician in the state of Ohio
  • Proficiency in the following skills:
    • Patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring
    • Anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery
    • Surgical assistance and aseptic technique
    • Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
    • Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
    • Medication administration and accurate drug calculations
    • Laboratory sample collection and in-house diagnostic testing
    • Accurate medical record documentation
    • Safe, low-stress patient handling and restraint techniques
    • Commitment to high-quality patient care and continuous learning

**Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply
