VCA Encina Animal Medical Center in Walnut Creek, CA is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician for our Outpatient Department. Location: 2803 Ygnacio Valley Rd, Walnut Creek, CA 94598. Compensation: $35-$40/hr.

Schedule: FT Sunday, Monday, Thursday Friday. The team supports a diverse range of cases across emergency, specialty and general practice. We offer a collaborative, fast-paced environment with opportunities to grow clinical skills and contribute to high-quality patient

Qualifications

• RVT licensure current and active.
• At least one year of veterinary experience preferred.
• Strong patient care, animal handling, and nursing skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing circumstances, and remain composed under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to patient safety and high-quality medicine.
• Willingness to learn and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

• Triage support: Assess incoming patients, obtain vitals and histories, flag changes to the medical team.
• Specialty outpatient care: Support specialty appointments, treatments, diagnostics and follow-up care.
• General Practice care: Assist GP doctors with routine treatments and diagnostics.
• Emergency procedures: Assist with emergency sedation, patient prep, monitoring and recovery.
• Diagnostic imaging: Obtain radiographs with proper positioning and safety protocols.
• Emergency surgery support: Assist during urgent procedures as needed.
• Patient care and monitoring: Provide safe handling for stable and urgent patients.
• Teamwork and communication: Collaborate with RVTs, VAs, veterinarians and other departments.
• Department organization: Maintain clean, safe, stocked environment.
