Qualifications

• Ideally, at least 2 years of experience as an RVT.
• Current RVT credential in good standing, as applicable to California requirements.
• Knowledge of veterinary nursing, patient care, and common medical procedures.
• Experience with and confidence in anesthesia monitoring, dentistry, and surgical assistance greatly desired.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and client-service skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Compassionate, professional, and dependable approach to patient care.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with veterinarians and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and treatment for outpatient and hospitalized patients.
• Obtain and record patient histories, weights, and vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and surgery.
• Place and maintain IV catheters and administer medications as directed.
• Collect and process laboratory samples.
• Perform diagnostic procedures, including radiographs, as trained and authorized.
• Monitor patients under anesthesia and provide appropriate recovery care.
• Assist veterinarians with surgical and dental procedures.
• Perform dental cleanings and provide oral care as appropriate to training and credential.
• Monitor patients and communicate changes in condition to the veterinary team.
• Educate clients on medications, treatments, and home-care instructions.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Keep treatment areas clean, organized, and properly stocked.
• Maintain equipment and supplies.
• Support the clinical team and contribute to a positive work environment.
