Job summary

Pico Rivera Animal Hospital is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated team. Registered Veterinary Technician - Pico Rivera Animal Hospital

The Pico Rivera Animal Hospital serves a diverse community with a strong commitment to compassionate, affordable care and is looking for a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician to support our team.

Position Overview

As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you will support hospital operations by providing high‑quality veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients. Responsibilities include determining animal needs, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery, providing nursing care, managing supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharge, and maintaining patient medical records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct examinations, interviews, and reviews of care plans; complete laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging.
  • Collect vital signs, samples, administer medications, drugs, and vaccines, and bandage and wrap wounds.
  • Support patient examinations and operations by assembling supplies, securing patients, and assisting as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and specialized equipment.
  • Verify and obtain medications; maintain proper documentation of controlled substances.
  • Ensure patients receive food and water, keep rooms and cages clean, and observe clinical signs.
  • Fill prescriptions and document medication administration.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and humane environment through sterilization, disinfection, and compliance with legal regulations.
  • Document patient conditions, reactions, and changes in the database; keep records accurate and up to date.
  • Communicate patient status to owners as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Maintain equipment, troubleshoot, and coordinate repairs.
  • Manage inventory, place orders, verify receipts.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development.
  • Release pets to owners, ensuring cleanliness and grooming requirements are met.
  • Follow oral and written directions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Manager or practice.
Qualifications (Required)
  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician (LVMT).
  • Knowledge and experience in surgical nursing, anesthesia/sedation, dentistry, lab work, radiology, and client communication.
  • Outgoing, detail‑oriented, strong communication skills, a team player, and comfortable using computers.
  • Minimal experience in front desk/receptionist functions.
  • Willing and able to work with diverse clients, pets, and co‑workers; openness to learning.
  • Ability to communicate vital information to owners and educate them about treatment and care.

Pay Range
$22.50 — $27.50 USD
