Job summary

Paw Patch Veterinary Hospital in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our patient‑focused team. We value compassion, collaboration, and ongoing learning as we care for companion animals in a supportive setting.

As part of a two full‑time veterinarian practice with experienced RVTs and staff, you will perform nursing duties, lab work, imaging, anesthesia monitoring, and client communication while growing professionally in a family‑oriented clinic.

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification required or equivalent.
• 1+ years of veterinary technician experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Cornerstone practice software is a plus.
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
• Excellent client communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of preventative care and hospital workflow.
• Proficient in sample collection and lab tests.
• Experience with radiography positioning and anesthesia monitored care.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Restrain animals and triage patients as needed.
• Collect and analyze lab samples for diagnostics.
• Perform diagnostic imaging procedures.
• Provide nursing care for hospitalized cases.
• Administer medications and treatments.
• Communicate treatment plans clearly to clients.
• Support surgical preparation, assistance, and anesthesia management.

This is a full-time position requiring availability on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, with additional weekday and Saturday shifts (short-term) as needed. Starting November 2026, we will no longer be open on Saturdays. Hours will range from 30-38 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities

• Restraining animals and triaging patients
• Collecting and analyzing lab samples
• Performing diagnostic imaging
• Providing nursing care for hospitalized cases
• Administering medications
• Effectively communicating treatment plans with clients
• Surgical preparation, assistance, and anesthetic management
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
• Being adaptable to various situations and cases, from routine checkups to emergencies

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
• 1+ years of experience preferred (but not required)
• Knowledge of Cornerstone software is a plus
• Positive attitude, high work ethic, and ability to work well in a team
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Knowledge of preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow
• Proficient in sample collection (blood, urine, fecal, and skin)
• Ability to properly set up and process lab tests
• Skilled in radiograph positioning (dental a plus)
• Experience with anesthesia and surgical monitoring
• Self-motivated with a commitment to ongoing learning and development

Pay Range

$20-$23/hr
