Job summary

Petersen Pet Hospital in Hiawatha, Iowa, is hiring a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to provide skilled care for our patients and exceptional service for clients.

Qualifications

• RV T certification required.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
• Knowledge of common diseases and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
• Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians with patient care, exams, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
• Safely handle and restrain animals with compassion.
• Communicate clearly with clients, including care instructions and status updates.
• Perform technical duties such as lab work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
• Help keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
• Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines at all times.

Job description

Salary: $20+ per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule: 36-40 hours per week, including rotating Saturdays
