Qualifications

• Associates of Science degree in Respiratory Care required.
• Six months experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute care setting preferred.
• Valid Massachusetts Registered Therapist License and Registered Respiratory Therapist credential required.
• Basic Life Support certification required.

Responsabilités

• Provides respiratory care to assigned patients by conducting a physical assessment which includes vital signs, breath sounds and general appearance.
• Delivers respiratory medications to the patient as prescribed by physician orders.
• Responds to medical emergencies such as Code 99 and rapid response team calls.
• Initiates non-invasive and invasive mechanical ventilation on patients.
• Conducts arterial blood gases by drawing blood, analyzes results and advises the clinician.
• Documents patient assessment, treatments and interactions in the EMR.
• Assists with airway management including suctioning, chest physical therapy, intubation and extubation.
• Assists limited permit staff with licensure duties and provides guidance and co-signatures.
• Cleans, sets up and performs safety checks for all respiratory equipment and maintains a safe work environment.
