Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver direct patient care in accordance with physician orders. You will collaborate with physicians to assess therapy effectiveness and support nursing staff as a respiratory care expert.

Candidates must have an RCP license and an NBRC-certified RRT, with a CoARC-approved education. ER staff may require PALS certification. This role emphasizes patient-centered care and teamwork within Mercy’s respiratory services.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory Care program.
• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential NBRC.
• No prior work experience required.
• PALS required for ER staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in respiratory therapy per physician orders.

Performs direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory care, according to physician's orders. Consults physicians on effectiveness of therapy. Acts as an advanced resource person for physicians and nursing on respiratory care. Performs duties as assigned.

Position Details:

QualificationsEducation: Graduate of CoArc approved Respiratory Care program.Licensure: Meets state licensure requirements and has a current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.Experience: None.Certifications: Hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). For co-workers who work in the Emergency Room PALS is required.Other: Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. Plus, pinch up to 10 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally. Equipment Used: All appropriate respiratory care devices. Preferred Education: Acute Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Preferred Licensure: Preferred Experience: Prefer critical care experience.Preferred Certifications: Preferred Other:
