Job summary

UMass Memorial Health – Milford Regional Medical Center, Inc. is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join a multidisciplinary team. The role includes administering aerosols, reviewing EMR data, and collaborating with physicians to optimize patient care.

Requires ASN in Respiratory Care, Massachusetts license, BLS, and ongoing required ACLS/NRP/PALS certifications within 3 months. A signing bonus may be available; a comprehensive benefits package is offered and 32 hours/week with day shift

Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Respiratory Care is required.
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential is required.
• Current Massachusetts State Respiratory Care License is required.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification is required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required within 3 months of employment.
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Provider certification is required within 3 months of employment.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification is required within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Works as part of a team to ensure optimal patient care.
• Reviews patients electronic medical record for history, reason for admission and data.
• Administers aerosolized medications.
• Draws and analyzes Arterial Blood Gases and reports Critical Values.
• Consults with physician staff and makes therapy recommendations aligned with orders.

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Hiring Range: $29.71 - $53.49 (based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week). Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Major Responsibilities

• 1. Works as part of a team to ensure optimal patient care.
• 2. Reviews patients electronic medical record for appropriate history, reason for admission, pertinent laboratory/radiological data, current orders.
• 3. Administers aerosolized medications.
• 4. Draws and analyzes Arterial Blood Gases. Reports Critical Values per hospital policy.
• 5. Consults with physician staff concerning the most efficacious forms of therapy and makes recommendations to enhance patient care (such as type, method, duration of therapy, suggested medications/dosages) compatible with physician orders and communicates these effectively with appropriate members of the healthcare team.

Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education

• Required: 1. Associate of Science in Respiratory Care.
• Required: 2. Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Required: 3. Current Massachusetts State Respiratory Care License.
• Required: 4. Current Basic Life Support Certification.
• Required: 5. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (required within 3 months of employment).
• Required: 6. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Provider certification (required within 3 months of employment).
• Required: 7. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (required within 3 months of employment).
• Preferred: 1. Bachelor of Science or higher.
• Preferred: 2. Specialty credential issued by the NBRC (ACCS, SDS, NPS, or RPFT).
• Preferred: 3. Current AE-C (Certified Asthma Educator) Certification.

Experience/Skills

• Required: 1. Ability to assess patients and make appropriate therapeutic recommendations along the continuum of care from admission to discharge including all aspects of respiratory care from floor therapies to mechanical ventilation and blood gas interpretation.
• Required: 2. Ability to read, write and speak clearly in English.
• Preferred: 1. Minimum two (2) years of acute care experience.
