Registered Respiratory Therapist - Full time - Midnights - West Bloomfield

Position Overview

Under general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and various medical gases therapy to patients. Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures across ICU and general practice units. Maintains clinical expertise, communicates effectively with patients and staff, documents patient care, supervises and delegates to support staff, and completes patient billing accurately.

Responsibilities
  1. Performs patient assessments, care planning, and collaborates with healthcare team members. Provides patient care during 100% of work hours.
  2. Delegates care tasks to support staff with proper communication and supervision.
  3. Works as part of a team, mentoring and collaborating with colleagues.
  4. Communicates with co-workers and physicians to ensure optimal patient care, actively participating in bedside rounds.
  5. Maintains high standards of clinical practice according to departmental policies.
  6. Demonstrates proficiency in departmental specialties, clinical areas, and equipment, working across multiple locations as assigned.
  7. Maintains clinical productivity and technical expertise through ongoing education and professional development.
  8. Performs equipment maintenance, cleaning, and testing as required.
  9. Documents patient care timely and in accordance with standards.
  10. Ensures patient safety and confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA policies.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program. Bachelors preferred; Associate minimum.
  • Recent graduate or at least two years of experience in a tertiary hospital setting.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Current Michigan Respiratory Therapist License.
  • For recent graduates, registration/license must be obtained within 90 days of graduation, or employment may be terminated.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Work in patient care settings with potential exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Regularly move, lift patients, and operate heavy equipment.
  • Work involves exposure to pressurized medical gases, potential noise, temperature fluctuations, and dust.
