Job summary

Oneida Health is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join the Hospital Respiratory Therapy Department, providing coverage across varied shifts. The role may involve work in the Sleep Lab and Extended Care, located just steps from the hospital.

The RT will assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders, reporting to the Director of Respiratory Therapy. The ideal candidate works independently and within a team to ensure patient safety and experience.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate in Respiratory Therapy required.
• Licenses/Certifications: Registered or Registry eligible with NBRC required.
• New York RRT license preferred.
• At least 1 year of Respiratory Therapy experience preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift equipment, and monitor patients.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, clean, and test respiratory equipment.
• Be familiar with department equipment and apply it in clinical scenarios.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and management.
• Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and assess patient status.
• Ensure supplies are stocked and records are kept accurate.
• Serve as a resource for therapists and support staff.
