Job summary

Trinity Health Michigan is seeking a part-time Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 12 Hour Night Shift. You will provide individualized respiratory care across all ages and collaborate with the care team to enhance patient outcomes.

The role includes staff training participation and accurate documentation within a teaching hospital setting. The ideal candidate will hold an accredited RT program credential, be an NBRC-registered RRT, possess Michigan licensure, and maintain BLS, with NRP/ACLS

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
• Registered as Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through NBRC.
• Current licensure to practice in the State of Michigan as Respiratory Therapist.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association.
• NRP and ACLS certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Previous work experience as a Respiratory Therapist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized respiratory care for the entire age continuum.
• Assist with improving overall quality of patient care through a multidisciplinary approach.
• Collaborate with the health care team to coordinate services rendered to patients.
• Participate in orientation of staff and student training programs for Trinity Health System.
• Demonstrate clinical competence in adult critical care and apply care protocols.
• Ensure accurate documentation/charges for patient encounters.
• Maintain equipment and coordinate service requests for equipment upkeep.
• Engage in ongoing education to maintain skills and competency.

What you will need as a Respiratory Therapist

• Successful completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
• Registered as Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
• Current licensure to practice in the State of Michigan as Respiratory Therapist.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association required.
• Maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Practioner (NRP) and Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification. Both required within 6 months of hire.
• Previous work experience as a Respiratory Therapist preferred.

Essential Functions as a Respiratory Therapist

• Demonstrates technical and clinical competence in adult critical care. Applies patient care protocols and utilizes assessment information to review and revise plan of care accordingly.
• Excellent organizational skills for the completion of patient care. Demonstrates ability to prioritize therapy and patient care activities to meet changing demands.
• Communicates with healthcare providers, units, and other customers on an ongoing basis to coordinate services and exceed customer service needs. Acts as a resource to physicians, nurses, and other team members to address clinical patient care concerns.
• Ensures appropriate documentation/charges are entered for the correct patient, encounter, date/time of service per practice expectations and facilitates corrections as needed.
• Assists with tracking and monitoring of equipment and requests services for maintaining equipment as needed.
• Participates in on-going education and takes personal accountability to seek experiences in order to maintain skills/competency.
• Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, associates, and visitors to Trinity Health System. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
• Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of SJMHS.
• Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
