Medstalent in Beckley, WV seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide respiratory care under medical supervision across hospital areas. Responsibilities include measuring lung capacity, delivering therapies, monitoring patient responses, and educating patients and families.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care, are RRT certified and WV licensed, and demonstrate commitment to evidence-based practice and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Program in Discipline.
• Minimum of an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care, Inc.; and licensed by the State of West Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Under medical supervision, deliver respiratory care services to patients in all areas of the hospital.
• Adapts to the particular area of duty assignment and performs special duties required by the assignment.
• May supervise and be responsible for the work of other respiratory care practitioners.
• May be assigned orientation and in-service education responsibilities.
• Carries out assigned duties according to policies and procedures with minimal supervision and frequently makes independent decisions.
• Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
• Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance and administers appropriate treatment.
• Educates the patient and family about the illness and community resources.
• Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
• Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
• Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.

Salary Range - $59,904.00 - $80,891.00 per year

A Respiratory Therapist, Registered RRT who excels in this role:

• Under medical supervision, may be required to deliver respiratory care services to patients in all areas of the hospital.

• May be required to supervise and be responsible for the work of other respiratory care practitioners.

• Carries out assigned duties and responsibilities according to policies and procedures approved by the Medical Director for Cardiopulmonary Services with only minimal or indirect supervision and frequently makes independent decisions.
• Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
