Job summary

AdventHealth Palm Coast in Florida is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to provide patient assessment, therapy, and ventilator support in an acute care setting. You will assist with bronchoscopy and educate patients on therapy benefits within a state-of-the-art facility.

Qualifications include an Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy, Florida RRT licensure, NBRC maintenance, and 1+ year of acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy required.
• Florida State Registered Respiratory Therapist licensure required.
• NBRC credential maintained as condition of continued eligibility in Florida.
• 1+ year of clinical experience in acute care setting preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience with bronchoscopy support and ventilator management desired.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and determine therapy efficacy per protocol.
• Assist physicians with bronchoscopy procedures and equipment setup.
• Document procedures and charges accurately for quality standards.
• Provide education to patients on therapy modalities and benefits.
• Perform respiratory therapies and ventilator management as prescribed.
• Respond to Code Blue emergencies and support ACLS outcomes.

Job Description:

• Utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, and chart reviews to determine therapy efficacy and makes appropriate recommendations.
• Assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures, including equipment setup and maintenance.
• Documents and charges for procedures accurately and thoroughly to meet quality standards.
• Provides effective patient education on therapy modalities to ensure understanding of care benefits.
• Demonstrates knowledge of infection control, safe body mechanics, and applicable regulations and standards.
• Proactively initiates process improvement ideas and assists with clinical instruction and staff precepting.
• Performs respiratory therapies and oxygen delivery therapies, making recommendations for the most efficient delivery method per protocol. Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators, including conventional and non-conventional modes of ventilation.
• Performs airway maintenance tasks such as manual resuscitators, airway insertion, suctioning, extubation, and tracheostomy procedures.
• Responds immediately to Code Blue emergencies, providing CPR according to the American Heart Association guidelines.
• Obtains, analyzes, and reports arterial blood gases and co-oximetry findings, performing quality controls as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
